OUR GREEN POLICY
The fundamental meaning, which the environmental quality has for the development of tourism, moved the Management Team and staff of the hotel «CRETAN MALIA PARK» to develop a system for the environmental administration (by the international model ISO 14001 - Department: Hotel)
Our intention is, to practise and develop the environmental measures, which are necessary to retain the high standards of our hotel services.
By this environmental policy we commit to improve our results that concern our environmental services and to prevent the pollution.
All this will be achieved by following measures:

Application and development of environmental activities and measures that keep up with the high quality of the services provided in our hotel.

Protection of natural environment by recycling materials (glass, paper, aluminium etc.) and avoiding chemical and toxic materials. Frequent microbiological and chemical analysis of the pool, sea and drinking water.

Co-operation with local authorities and schools for the development and consolidation of environmental consciousness.

Guest and staff information about the environment. Environmental activities together with our guests and staff. In addition education of the staff in order to increase environmental awareness.

Financial support and co-operation with environmental organizations for the protection of endangered species and development of common environmental activities.

Use of biological, recyclable and local products in all hotel departments.

Hotel construction and renovation is based on the use of local and natural materials that are environmental friendly and match with the local architecture.
The above mentioned environmental goals we achieve with the help of the environmental administration, with the development of specific and countable environmental goals, with regular controls of environmental parameters, with controls of the systems' attribution and with re-examinations of the goals, having as a target the upgrading of the system.
Our News
- Cretan Malia Park is proud to receive The Blue Flag award for Potamos Beach. The hotel has received the award for 18 consecutive years. The Blue Flag works towards sustainable development at beaches/marinas through strict criteria dealing with water quality, environmental education and information, environmental management, and safety and other services.
- Cretan Malia Park celebrates Environment Week. As part of its annual activities, staff, guests and our young friends from MED SOS have helped in cleaning the beach. On the World Environment Day our repeater guests planted a tree with their name plaque as appreciation of their visits to our hotel.
- Planting of an organic garden certified by Bio Hellas of which the fruit and vegetables are consumed by the hotel guests.
- Planting of olive trees in hotel gardens, dedicated to repeating guests in frame of the International Day of Environment.
- Hotel environmental tour, garden tour and herb presentation.
- Cleaning up the sea in cooperation with Legambiente.
- Presentations and cooperation and with Archelon – Society for Sea Turtle Protection, Cretan Animal Welfare House in Malia, Aqua World Aquarium in Hersonissos.
